ALEX HOLLOWAY LicAc, CertECBS, MBTPA, JAMA, TUK
Alex uses either ACUPUNCTURE or the BOWEN TECHNIQUE to treat her patients.
She qualified from the College of Traditional Acupuncture in 1999, and from the European College of Bowen Studies in 2003.
As a member of JAMA (Japanese Acupuncture and Moxa Association), TUK (UK Toyohari Association) and BTPA (Bowen Therapy Professional Association), Alex is committed to ongoing training to maintain her standards as a competent practitioner.
Acupuncture is a safe and profound treatment that aims to restore and maintain health by the insertion of fine needles into specific points on the body. Alex is trained in 5 Element Acupuncture from which she herself has benefited greatly. It is a gentle but deeply restorative form of acupuncture, often involving the use of direct moxa cones to enhance the healing effect of needling. Alex uses moxa to warm the points, which most people find extremely relaxing, before gently needling to achieve a stronger stimulation of the point.
In 2018, Alex completed a Toyohari training programme (120 hours of study). This style of treatment, also known as Meridian Therapy, has a tradition of over 400 years old. Imbalances on the channel are detected using gentle palpation of the channels at the ankles and wrist and of the abdomen. Treatment is applied using specifically designed tools such as silver needles and does not always involve needle insertion.
Alex has found this style of treatment to be relaxing and effective. She is committed to regular practise of Toyohari methods with colleagues, as required by the UK Toyohari Association.

The Bowen Technique is a remarkable therapy, which gently but effectively releases tension from soft tissue, quickly bringing the patient to a deep level of relaxation. Alex fell in love with the technique when she first experienced it and has enjoyed using Bowen to help people with many and varying conditions. The Bowen Technique is most obviously helpful to those with muscular and skeletal problems; it also provides great help to those struggling with emotional states such as stress and anxiety due to the profound relaxation it usually induces. As in any truly holistic therapy, the Bowen Technique helps the whole person and addresses individual needs. It is suitable for all ages, from babies to the elderly.
